Sean John Shop Future
Sean John
Sean “Diddy” Combs’ eponymous lifestyle label, Sean John, is officially caught up with the green movement as its first sustainable and earth-friendly pop up store, SHOP FUTURE, has just opened in Miami over the weekend. The new temporary retail spot ties in its interior design with the name, bringing a clean futuristic look to the store. The label has enlisted the help of Eastern District Gallery artists, Jason Horvath and Aakash Nihalani, to help create the modern and innovative space. Jason Horvath is known for blurring the lines between art and design and often works with furniture to explore the niche between functionality and aesthetics. Meanwhile, Aakash Nihalani is known for his brightly colored geometric tape outlines (often isometric triangles and cubes) that serve to both highlight and blend into urban architectural elements (could be a slab of bricks along an old wall, staircases or simple the sidewalk). Taking both artists’ characteristics and work into consideration, SHOP FUTURE is an interesting play on space and perspective while working the label’s Spring 2010 collection, Fine Tailoring, Sunglasses, Fragrance and capsule collection of selvedge denim into the environment and elevating the products to a new perspective. Aside from a fresh line-up of Spring products, the temporary retail space will also be house to a series of events for the coming week. For instance, Andre Johnson (Houston Texans 2010 Pro-Bowler), will be hosting “Well Tailored: Sean John’s Guide For The Suited Man” and Rick Ross will also be hosting the Sean John Big & Tall Trunk Show this coming Thursday. As the opening deliberately coincides with Superbowl and Pro Bowl, events do fall along theme of sports. If you happen to be in town for the duration of the pop-up shop, be sure to drop by the events and stand a chance to bring home special items such as tickets to see NE-YO or Nas and Goodie Mob at the Adrienne Arsht Center and autographed picture of Rick Ross. Otherwise, do take a moment to check out the behind the scenes and store pictures to get a vicarious feel for the fresh pop-up venture from Sean John.
